WOM promotes social commitment of its employees

6. March, 2017 Sustainability, Work at WOM

As a company, WOM has been supporting social projects for a long time and does the same for its employees and their volunteer activities. Since March 2017, WOM is going one step further. Employees are given up to two days paid leave per year for community involvement, such as handicapped care, children and young people, helping those in need and the elderly, integration of refugees or environmental protection.

“We wanted to do more in our capacity as a medium-sized companies than just donating money,” says Managing Director Oliver Kupka.

The so-called VTO (Voluntary Time Off) is a powerful motivator for employees as it opens up new perspectives and develops new points of views. A strengthened social skills also has a positive effect on work and the work environment.

A recent statistics from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women & Youth states that one in three people in Germany is already engaged in volunteer work. This is a trend WOM aims to promote among its employees and uses to emphasize the importance of its own CSR goals.
