When multinational corporations choose their suppliers and partner companies, they are increasingly interested in aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The supply chainsy should be clean, the supply chains, and that down to the very last link. But how is this checked most effectively?
The service provider EcoVadis has established itself as a professional CSR performance evaluator, operating the first collaborative platform and collecting and analyzing the comprehensive data of global supply chains for corporations. As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), WOM was contacted by EcoVadis on behalf of a potential customer and then participated in screening in May – with great success.
WOM reached silver status right away. This was based on answering 79 extremely complex questions and uploading 69 documents as evidence of our activities. The categories assessed were the environment, laboratory practices, fair business practices, and sustainable procurement. On average, we scored 59 out of 100 points and ended up in the “Top 30%” group of companies evaluated by EcoVadis.
Our goal now is to reach gold status next time. Various working groups are already busily engaged with those issues where we still have potential for improvement. A huge thank-you goes out to all employees who have collected the numerous pieces of data and who continue to work enthusiastically in the area of CSR.
